The Grove Park Inn Resort and Spa brings in acclaimed chef for wine dinner
ASHEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA (July 26, 2010) – The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa is bringing some of the top chefs in the southeast to Asheville for a special series of visiting chef wine dinners. The next dinner in the series will be at 6 p.m. August 6 at the Grove Park Inn Country Club. Award winning Executive Chef Robert Wysong from The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort in Charleston is joining with Banquet Chef de Cuisine Lisa Scanlan to create a special menu for this wonderful evening. The dinner will feature six courses of culinary delights, paired with fine wines and other beverages. The cost is $90 per person.
A 1993 Graduate of Johnson and Wales University in Charleston, Wysong’s career in the culinary world spans twenty years and includes experience in private clubs such as The Pensacola Country Club, independent restaurants such as Magnolia’s Raw Bar and Grill in Asheville and the luxury hotelier The Ritz Carlton Golf Resort-Naples where he explains, “you have the most creative reach and freedom of expression”. Chef Wysong is also a former employee of The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa.
Taking the advice of her mother, Chef Scanlan enrolled in culinary school at the Institute of Culinary Arts, in Pittsburgh in 1993. After graduating, her culinary journey started in Spokane, Washington where she worked as a saucier at Cyrus o’ Leary’s. In 1997, Lisa was hired at The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa. “We are very excited about bringing these chefs to the Grove Park Inn,” said Denny Trantham, Executive Chef for the resort. “It will be exciting to have Chef Wysong back in our kitchen.
